GetBullish Returns to Long-Form Publishing with Magazine-Style "Issue #1: The Analog Human"
Brooklyn entrepreneur launches quarterly publication exploring how technology is reshaping human behavior, consciousness, and connection
BROOKLYN, NY (August 4, 2025) – After more than a decade focused primarily on e-commerce, GetBullish founder Jennifer Dziura is returning to her publishing roots with the launch of "Issue #1: The Analog Human," a magazine-style collection of three in-depth articles examining how humans are adapting—sometimes poorly—to our technology-saturated world.
The inaugural issue, dropping Monday, August 4th, marks a deliberate return to human-centered writing in an era increasingly dominated by AI-generated content. Dziura plans to publish quarterly themed issues alongside other standalone posts and a revival of her popular career advice Q&A column.
"Almost like the internet being flooded with AI content makes me want to human it up again," said Dziura, who founded GetBullish as a career advice blog in 2010 before building it into a successful Brooklyn-based gift company. "Now seems like an important moment to start again."
Magazine-Format Tackles Technology's Human Cost
"The Analog Human" explores three critical questions about technology's impact on human development and decision-making. The issue examines why medical students might skip studying when ChatGPT is available in exam rooms, whether human writers can justify their craft when AI produces instant content, and how YouTube's algorithm exploits our psychological vulnerabilities to push increasingly extreme content.
Each piece combines Dziura's signature "taking no bull" perspective with deep analysis of how rapid technological adoption is reshaping human consciousness, often without our awareness of the trade-offs involved.
"We're not just using new technologies—in some ways we have inverted the order of use. Instead of operating machines as tools, we happily allow ourselves to be operated by machines" Dziura explained. "The price we pay for expedience is the degradation of our own skills, and the authority to override the output of machines in our interactions with each other."
From Media Column to E-commerce Empire to Publishing Return
GetBullish originally appeared as a column on media publication TheGloss and later its career-focused sister site TheGrindstone. When both publications ceased in 2013, Dziura found herself writing less frequently while building an e-commerce operation and raising two children.
"These sites ceased publication around 2013 and since then I have written a lot less without outside deadlines and while running an e-commerce company and having two kids," Dziura reflected. The absence of external deadlines and editorial structure, combined with the demands of scaling a physical product business, shifted her focus away from long-form writing.
Today, GetBullish operates from a Brooklyn warehouse, shipping thousands of feminist gifts, office supplies, and sarcastic home decor items nationwide. "After collecting nearly a decade of notes, it's time to return to publishing," said Dziura. "I never wanted to churn out posts just to adhere to a content calendar, or, god forbid, to address questions people are asking on Google to get more search results."
"Artifacts of Life" Strategy Distinguishes Human Content
Dziura believes authentic human content requires what she calls "artifacts of life"—personal photos, author bios, strong opinions, audio or video of the author, and personal anecdotes that demonstrate human investment in the work.
"That doesn't exactly prove authorship but it at least shows a human stands by what is written, it's proof of conviction," she said, comparing traditionally written pieces with AI-generated ones. Each piece in "The Analog Human" includes extensive personal context, biographical details, and strong opinions.
This approach deliberately contrasts with the generic, safe tone of much AI-generated content. "I think it's important to distinguish human written content by adding as many 'artifacts of life' as possible," Dziura noted.
Dual Platform Strategy Targets Broader Audience
"Issue #1: The Analog Human" will be simultaneously published on getbullish.com and Substack, serving longtime GetBullish readers while attracting new audiences. The Substack platform particularly aims to reach male readers, expanding beyond GetBullish's traditionally female audience.
"The joint publishing strategy is with the goal of serving longtime GetBullish readers while also attracting new readers (including men, as most of GetBullish's audience is female) on the Substack platform," Dziura explained.
The quarterly magazine format will be supplamented by regular posts and the return of Dziura's popular Q&A advice column, focused on careers, entrepreneurship, and "taking no bull" in both personal and professional relationships.
Timing Reflects Cultural Moment
The launch comes as concerns about AI's impact on human creativity, education, and authentic communication reach mainstream consciousness; recent studies show significant increases in AI-generated content across news, academic, and marketing channels, creating what some observers call a "content authenticity crisis."
Dziura's return to publishing reflects a broader movement among writers, educators, and content creators who are deliberately emphasizing human experience, vulnerability, and original thinking as counterweights to algorithmic content generation.
"Issue #1: The Analog Human" represents both personal artistic return and cultural commentary—an argument for maintaining human creativity and critical thinking in an increasingly automated world.
