About American Gothic by Grant Wood
Grant Wood painted American Gothic in 1930 after spotting a Gothic Revival farmhouse in Eldon, Iowa, and deciding to paint the kind of people he imagined living there. The models were his sister Nan and his dentist, Dr. Byron McKeeby. Wood submitted it to the Art Institute of Chicago's annual exhibition, where it won a bronze medal and was immediately purchased by the museum for $300 — the only painting sold at that show. It sparked controversy: some Iowans were offended by what they read as mockery of Midwestern character; Wood maintained it was a celebration. It has been at the Art Institute of Chicago ever since, and the house in Eldon is now a tourist attraction.

We ship to nearly every country in the world with UPS International (3-7 business days) and DHL (1-3 business days)!
Items we cannot ship internationally include food, body products, liquids include lavatory mists, made to order apparel and drinkware, and wooden items if going to Australia. Nearly everything else can be shipped anywhere.
