Italian artist Artemisia Gentileschi completed the painting Judith Slaying Holofernes in 1613, portraying the biblical Judith and her maidservant Abra saving the Israelites of Bethulia by beheading the general Holofernes after he fell into a drunken stupor.
Why choose this subject matter? It was pretty obviously intended as a form of revenge against Gentileschi’s rapist, Agostino Tassi, who Gentileschi famously testified against, even enduring torture by thumbscrew in order to “verify” her testimony. The 17th century was rough, y’all. We hope this sticker makes you imagine gathering your own lady pals and getting real crafty with a sword.

I adapted this classic art for this sticker and did that deliberately unhinged typesetting at the bottom. I think I was influenced by learning about 'concrete poems' in elementary school, the idea of the physical shape of the text having meaning. But also, I hope more rapists lose their heads.
