Besties Doing a Nice Beheading! Judith Slaying Holofernes Sticker | Vinyl Die Cut Decal Artemisia Gentileschi Painting
Reads: "When We Work Together We Can Do Anything".
Italian artist Artemisia Gentileschi completed the painting Judith Slaying Holofernes in 1613, portraying the biblical Judith and her maidservant Abra saving the Israelites of Bethulia by beheading the general Holofernes after he fell into a drunken stupor.
Why choose this subject matter? It was pretty obviously intended as a form of revenge against Gentileschi’s rapist, Agostino Tassi, who Gentileschi famously testified against, even enduring torture by thumbscrew in order to “verify” her testimony. The 17th century was rough, y’all. We hope this sticker makes you imagine gathering your own lady pals and getting real crafty with a sword.
